International Educator | Author | SEL Consultant
I offer authentic professional learning, consulting and coaching to schools and communities in the areas of social emotional learning, restorative practices and multi-tiered systems of support. With experience both at the school level and in education leadership, as well as in the United States and internationally, I understand that every school has its own strengths and challenges. Real change doesn’t come from one-size-fits-all solutions, it comes from honest dialogue around problems of practice and collaborative strategies that are tailored to the environment.
“When a flower doesn’t bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower.”
– Alexander Den Heijer
Restorative practices are relationship-centered approaches that focus on building community and repairing harm. Rather than relying solely on punishment as a form of discipline, this approach uses open dialogue, shared understanding and structured accountability to address harm and prevent its recurrence.
Sessions for school-based leadership teams
I provide sessions designed for school-based leadership teams that support the implementation of restorative practices.
Sessions for full faculty
I provide sessions designed for full faculty that support the implementation of restorative practices.
Sessions for role specific practitioners
I provide sessions designed for role specific practitioners that support the implementation of restorative practices schools such as administrators, deans, school counselors and other related service providers, as well as teachers, teaching assistants and common-space supervisors.
These sessions equip educators with the knowledge and skills to embed Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) into core academic instruction. Across five learning sessions, participants explore how to establish and reinforce meaningful shared agreements, integrate SEL standards into everyday teaching, differentiate instruction and uplift student voices to strengthen engagement and relational trust. Through collaborative activities and integrating the use of generative Artificial Intelligence, teachers and instructional assistants leave prepared to implement strategies that enhance both academic outcomes and students’ social-emotional development.
Sessions for teachers and instructional assistants
I provide sessions that can be taken as a full-day 5-hour training or taken as separate 1-hour sessions.
Social Emotional Learning within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (SEL-MTSS) framework is a data-informed practice that integrates social, emotional, behavioral and academic supports to meet the needs of all students. In these sessions, I integrate the use of Artificial Intelligence tools to help advance SEL-MTSS practices in a time-efficient manner while also upholding ethical guidelines. Tier 1 focuses on schoolwide SEL practices that build a positive, inclusive climate through explicit instruction and relationship building strategies; Tiers 2 and 3 provide increasingly targeted interventions for students needing additional support.
Sessions for full faculty or school-based teams
I provide sessions designed for school-based teams or for full faculty that support the implementation of SEL-MTSS.
